The MZ has a Yamaha water cooled 660 cc engine, the Yamaha XT 600 is
air cooled (and obviously 60 cc smaller). You bet there are a few
differences.

As noted, Air cooled vs. liquid cooled means the heads, plumbing, and no
doubt many internals are different. Basically, pretent they don't even
share a model prefix. If I recall, the castings for the case are common
to both, and they share a few gaskets, and I think they can use the same
oil filters, but that's about it.
