He doesn't mind motorcyclists killing themselves and reckons that
'these loonies on two wheels' should pay for their road tax 12 months
in advance.

I reckon his rant at the coppers will have more ramifications than the
bikers.

Cheers

Paul.

Does that mean that they shouldn't be allowed to pay for 6 months, in
advance?

I might have missed something, but I already do buy my road tax which
runs a year from the month I buy it.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember RichardA
<r.alex.RemoveThis@FOSpammersblueyonder.co.uk> saying something like:

What a twat. I'd be worried if he was pro-biker.

That's the only remotely rational construction to be put on the comment.
Bikes only to be taxed for 12 months with no option for 6. Presumably he
thinks it might prevent the odd untaxed quick run round the block on a
dry sunny day in early spring or late autumn. He hasn't thought it
through though has he? Perhaps he would not allow bike tax discs to be
surrendered for a refund either?

Quality.

Have had a quick scan around the group but found nothing obvious
referring to the debate that was on Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2 the
other day when the same shite regarding 40% of bikes being untaxed was
promoted by some government mong who was at loggerheads with Steve
Berry, the designated voice of motorcyclists for the purposes of the
debate, apparently.

If anyone else heard this, they'd have noted Mr Berry ranting about
how, amongst other things, bikers are really considered when various
Government policies are developed and implemented, and he then went on
to cite the implementation of forward facing cameras as an example of
a 'bad thing', ffs.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm actually quite pleased these
have been implemented in place of rear facing ones... at least when
I've got my bike riding head on, and I'd thank the likes of Mr Berry
more if they didn't use forward facers as something to rant about when
citing why bikers apparently get a raw deal from the DoT. Smile

He's just regurgitating some sensationalistic figure work on the part
of some clueless eejit from the DoT who blatantly doesn't ride bikes.

That, and from what I've seen they've not mentioned of that 40%, how
many of these bikes are SORN'ed or how many they've actually detected
being ridden on the road without tax.

Atypical 'mountain out of a molehill' senastionalistic bollocks which
no-one should really be surprised at, given it's emanated from a nanny
state administration which is rapidly running out of steam.
