couldn't resist having a look and trying to put names to faces.... not a
hope! Hoope nobody minds that I had a stickybeak...

Looks like you folks had a brilliant time. Can I ask, do you all know each
other from Real Life way back, or did you all meet via this group? You all
looked so comfortable with each other as if you'd known one another for
ages - is that the case?

Just wondering...

I only know one person in the group that I first met in the real world.

It's that sort of group.

I think I have met most of the regular posters in person.

Events like the Unaugural, the Wintersun Rally (and this year the Alpine
rally[1]) as well as the Superbike races and MotoGP races generally see
a fair gathering of aus.motoans. A common interest that tends to get us
travelling makes for lots of opportunities to meet.

[1] The Alpine is not *that* far from your place, although if the
weather is a bit off a muddy, slippery access road might be a bit of a
challenge.

I never knew any of those people in RL. I've met a few at annual
dinners, Phillip Island. BTH lived at my house for a few days, and I
had dinner with three others in Perth.

That's "Unaugural", Big. Do try to keep up. Wink

"Unaugrual" sounds like a substitute food for orphans.

I rode almost 2000km to Phillip Island and saw Theo who had ridden 4000km
as he went into the camp-ground but I didn't say hello.
I didn't want to bug him.

I have to ask here !!
Do we mean "Inaugural" here? (As in the first occurance, or the start of
something).
Not trying to be the language Nazi but I like to think we should try to keep
the meaning of words to that of their usual usage.
Anyway thats my flame for Betty in her joining the group Smile

Same here, I know one person from "real life" from this group(they say he's
not as funny in real life) and around three others that are not regular
posters these days. I've met many Aus.motoians since(wintersun, netrides,
unaugurals). The Alpine is at the piss easy site this year Moike, bitumen
all the way to the site, no challenge except for the cold. I want to see
Clem in the hawaian shirt and shorts there.

Pretty social for a web group.

Unaugural Update - Bad news I'm afraid, since the Goulburn area still had strict fire restrictions as of last week we definitely won't be having a bonfire. Please leave your pyrotechnic devices at home, too. We'll be able to have a campfire, but it'll have to be a careful...

Final Reminder: 4th Unaugural - May 6 - That's right, May 6, 2006. I'll be driving my truck up from Melbourne a few days beforehand to make preparations (bonfire building, booze buying, shed-sweeping-out, etc.), so if you'd like me to transport stuff for you (eg. feather doonas and mattresses...

un-unaugural aus.moto rally of Tarago - I'm trying to find an appropriate date for next year's un-unaugural. It'd be best over a long weekend, to allow the Melbourne folk a chance to attend. Easter is on the 25-28th of March, so the bonfire wouldn't be a goer; Anzac Day is the Autumn Leaf..

3rd Unaugural aus.moto Rally of Tarago - May 14! - Only 2 weeks to go - how exciting! ;-) I'll provide the ice, bangers, bread, onions, etc. You need to bring yourself, any BBQ meat you like (if bangers aren't your thing), booze of your preference, and something to sleep in. There will be about 6m x 6...

4th Unaugural aus.moto rally of Tarago - May 6th - A few people asked me yesterday to stop stalling and choose a day, so May 6 it is. No doubt it's the same day as the "Back of Armpit Rally" that everyone is already booked into, but there you go. ;-) I'll be driving my truck up from Melbourne...
