I know that other Calgarians frequent this group so maybe someone can
clarify if we have these at Race City. Their web site is as bad and
uninformative today as it has ever been.

Track days seem like a lot of fun and a great way to learn to ride
better in a fun environment, amongst other bike lovers. Heck if an angry
sow like Bob Nixon can enjoy these so can I (j/k BN)

Not sure if the cost of the equipment would make it worth my while as
I'm not about to spend 1 grand on a full leather suit and proper racing
boots. If that's part of the requirement I'll just stick to motocross.
But if Race City makes motorcycle riding/racing as easy and as much fun
as the casual Friday night drag racing (where I have raced my car in the
past) then this would be something I'd definitely do.

Then stick to motocross. Decent leathers and boots will cost about a
grand. Don't forget good gloves if you don't already have them.

If they do, then they are idiots. Friday test and tune can afford to be a
little more relaxed than even a casual track day on the bike.

If you really just want a casual taste of the track to improve the riding
skills, then do something like a CLASS trackday. The gear requirements are
mimimal (a decent jacket, and overpants will do), and the only required
preparation for the bike is to tape/remove the mirrors, and disable the
brake light.

And don't forget a back protector either.

My waist size is 30 (for jeans) and my mx pants are 34. If the 44 you're
referring to is for waist size than I'd have to put on some pounds
before this would fit me.

I'm in no hurry to get into this. Gotta devote my attention to one type
of bike (and sport) for now. The sport bike is more of a prop than
anything at this point, something to get some fun out of till I realize
that mx is hurting my body too much to continue on at which point I may
switch to something a lot less physically demanding. And this will take
time (I hope)
