Archived from groups: tx>motorcycles (more info?)

Like struggling against your power band, in the peak horsepower; because
that's the way you geared/sprocketed it for...

Where you took it to the limit, where you heard, felt the engine
screaming, you had just dusted it off with a few limiter-pegs at a gas
station then you go back and forth up a road, noone's around, no
headlights, no reflective decals anywhere.

So you peg it and just wind all gears, be damned, hold it as fast as it
wants to go, for as long as you can... and you know it can only last 4
miles because there are no roads that straight much longer.

where after winding down hard, then coasting along letting the oil cool
itself down, eventually stopping, listening to the "tink"'s of the pipes
cooling down, the world just moves too damn slowly, you sit and wonder
looking up at the stars, knowing you could just go.

It's almost warm enough for rubber to stick in the still of the night.
Almost.
