The Rockhampton Moring Bulletin had the following story on the front page
today March 31. Thought you might like to read.

HOW STUPID!
170 kmh motorbike maniacs busted after video show.
Two men turned Rockhampton streets into their own personal high-speed
racetrack while filming themselves performing dangerous motorcycle stunts.
The pair behind the bizarre case of dangerous driving was Richard Gary Fay,
33, and Andrew Vincent Spencer, 26.
They were caught by police after their tapes were shown in a Rockhampton
Nightclub.
The tapes, which the defendents said where modelled after the movie
"Jackass", showed the errant riders doing wheelies and racing through the
neighborhood streets at breakneck speeds and even running other motorists
off the road.
On one occasion, Spencer attached his video camera to the fuel tank of his
motorbike and rode along Dean St and into Honour St.... his speedometer
reading 170kmh
As the tape continued, Spencer went through Duthie Av and Philp Av, managing
to slow down to 120 kmh.
The last part of the video showed Spencer riding along Pilbeam Dr at 160kmh.
He overtook a second motorcycle, riding on the wrong side of the road,
forcing an oncoming car into a table drain.
Spencer lost control of his bike and also crashed in the table drain.
A second tape showed Fay riding his motorcycle at an undetermined speed with
one wheel in the air along Birbeck St, in the Parkhurst industrial estate,
up a hill and on the wrong side of the road.
The pair pleaded guilty to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, in the
Rockhampton Magistrates Court.
The defence council said that 'the men only made the video for their own
amusement and were unaware that the video had been played at the nightclub.
He also said that since being caught both men had given up their interest in
motorcycles.
The Magistate sentenced Spencer to a 6 month jail term, suspended for 12
months and fined him $2500.
Fay was fined $1000
Both men lost their licences for 6 months |

I assume it isn't the Richard Fay that posts here? He's in NSW isn't
he?

Not April 1 but a genuine article. The two men involved where actually
charged last year and only just gone to court.
