Curious that the 3 riders to the right of the picture are leaned
to their right, whereas the two on the left are leaning the other way.
Bike #65 seems to be standing on its front wheel; there's a visible
skid mark behind it.

Also, if you were to have a rear-view of the two riders in red
........ more skidmarks.

Looks like the red bike on the left got into a huge speed weave that
is high-siding him, and the other rider is doing a stoppie to avoid
hitting him, but it's not working.

"Curious"?

You mean you really don't know what's just happened there and what's *about*
to happen?

The three bikes on the right are leaning into a right-hand turn entry, and
the two bikes on the left have just collided and are in the process of
high-siding.

The first two bikes on the right are ahead of the collision (look at the
shadows) and will probably be just fine. The yellow #77 following them is
going to be lucky to miss the sliding, tumbling, and decelerating bikes and
riders crossing his line just ahead of him, but may be far enough behind
them to avoid the chaos. (Difficult to tell when the picture's been taken
with a telephoto lens.)

Please say that you being facetious and not actually comparing

Yeah. You sure won't see any billboards on those bikes!

That's Pedrosa on the Honda. The two Ducatis are crashing. I don't know if
one is the eventual series champ, Stoner. Can't remember his number from
last year.

Speaking of shadows isn't it strange how the shadow of the bikes on
the left extends to the right while the shadow of the bike on the
right extends to the left? I suppose it could be that way if the sun
is almost directly over head.

If we are looking due South, I'd guesstimate 12:15pm.

You can locate the angle of the sun by extending a line straight up from the
tip of the shadow of the Ducati's tail up to the tip of the tail itself.
Same thing with the shadow of the rider's knee and the knee itself.

They both give you the same angle: almost directly overhead and slightly to
the right.

If you knew towards which compass point the camera was facing, you could
tell what time of day it was. ;->

OK, they're billboards, too. But other than flat track the just going
'round in circles thing is not part of it...

Going to Daytona next week? No GP motorcycle racing is not like NASCAR.
Stock Bike (Superbike) racing is essentially the same as NASCAR. Both race
powerful unweildy machines on the same tracks and the spectators pay to see
them crash. Figure out how to put a cage around a superbike so it could
wreck safely and AMA would get as rich as NASCAR.
