This should be a revealing program. While the Xenu stuff is weird and
amusing, it's no stranger than Christian beliefs.
However, it's about time the media starts focusing on the abuses and
destruction Scientology beliefs can lead to. Elli Perkins was a
respected auditor at the Buffalo org, yet when her schizophrenic son
murdered her, the cult tried to cover it up.
perkinstragedy.org/
Same with the incident at the Mountain View org, when respected
Scientologist Gabriel Williams repeatedly sexually assaulted a 16 year
old girl entrusted to his care.
Jeff Quiros, head of the San Francisco org, was involved with the
attempt to cover up this repulsive man's criminal behavior. When that
failed, they tried to smear the girl's reputation...calling her a slut
and attacking her character.
The Scientology organization often squalls and whines about "religious
persecution," yet its 50 year history is littered with accounts of abuse
and the destruction of minds, lives, and life savings.
Here's my own little contribution, drawn from 8 years of experience with
the cult in San Diego:

What law did you have in mind to protect people from Scientology ?
If an adult goes off their meds because of Christian Science,
should that same law protect them from themselves too ?
Minors deserve protection. With adults, even disturbed ones, the
law is correctly cautious about forcing them to do things for their
own good. Protecting "weak minded" people from themselves
is a way too slippery slope. >> Stay informed about: scientology guys at La Honda? |

Fraud. They have been successfully sued on that basis. Google "Scientology
fraud lawsuits".

In some cases it has done exactly that. (And pissed off some Christian
Scientists, too; my mother being one of them.)

A good argument for getting rid of all the speed limits tomorrow morning. >> Stay informed about: scientology guys at La Honda? |

No problem with civil suits.

That seems way over the top. What was the case ? Were they
protecting "society" or a competent adult who was refusing meds ?

My right to swing my fist stops at the other guy's nose. Public roads
are shared by others. Stupidity on private property sounds fine to me
as long as the person wishing to practice it makes provision for any
messy rescue and cleanup operations. >> Stay informed about: scientology guys at La Honda? |

There's an attorney that began to specialize in suits against
therapists in cases of suicide. After all, he reckoned, if anyone
actually knows how to prevent suicide, then it would be malpractice if
any of their clients committed suicide. >> Stay informed about: scientology guys at La Honda? |
