I was just walking past a caryard when I spotted a 1980 Jaguar XJ6,
with a price tag of only $1900!

I only just barely escaped! With my wallet intact![1]

tearing up $20 notes?

That's it! Don't just think of the money that you have saved, also
think of the time that you won't have to spend re-building it.

Just one XJ6?

You should be able to get a brace of GPXs and a postie bike for that!

I'm guessing you'd need a substantial wallet to get it running well though....

Just have to bite on that one. .cars or .bikes... I'm away anyway.
Back in the early '70's when I was a bit of a nob around Melb., (says I),
I owned an XK fixed head(?).. reg No. XK 150... it had a bit of race
stuff ex Bob Jane on it. I went even better and got reg No. XK 150,
when that was released... had it on a Renualt R4(?) front seat like deck
chairs. Decided to rebuild the Jag... had it well stripped down; was burning
oil.... then decided to get out of that hell hole and go bush, where I still
am.
Sold the Jag for $2500 to a Jack Griffiths was at the Caulfield Instit of
Tech.,
then sold the Renault for $500... ah well!!
Rockit
wouldn't have gone around bends as well as my bikes do.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I don't see the problem? If someone offered me $1900 to take
an 1980 Jaguar XJ6 away, I'd do it. A hundred bucks worth of
petrol, dump the bastard in a side street in Bondi, you're
$1800 and half a day in front.

Works for me.

Not at all, a good XJ is very reliable. It's when you buy one that isn't
running that it can take a while, but that's not an XJ

Ain't that the truth!

My father has records of most Daimlers in the country. You should have seen his face when a bloke
that used to work in a Daimler dealership rocked up to the club with documentation on a shite-load
of pre-Jag Daimlers that were sold in this country (chassis and engine numbers, first owners,
original colours, etc)
