Hi GB.

You're right, t'would upset the constabule, if handled wrong.
I think my approach would be very soft and most polite...

If that's what I said, then you would be right, however that's not what
I said. I never said they were no good, so you look like the silly
monkey, again.

You obviously missed the point entirely.
Hint: Your finger isn't cut.

You don't have to go to a magistrate either. Postman Pat delivers.

How often do you actually get stopped by the police because you have a
modulator fitted ?

Ah, (the education continues) so that's what happens...

Never, but just like carrying a First Aid kit and Tyre repair stuff,
I'm convinced that it will happen one day <G>

Point taken. Since my post the silly bugger has been pinged for BAC of
0.086 <sigh> So it may be irrelevant for the next 6 months....

Harsh call - Stupid? Yes. Will he learn? I think so.

His breathalyser reading was 0.086 but his blood test came in under 0.08 -
not sure what that means legally but we'll find out.

Is .08 the limit where you are? I thought all states had been
blackmailed into .05.

0.08 is a critical point in SA - 0.05 - .079 is a fine and loss of points
but no loss of license for a first offence. 0.08 and over is automatic and
immediate 6 months loss of license.

The kid made a bad decision due to inexperience. He had his bike stolen on
Friday night and went to a BBQ on Saturday afternoon. Took a taxi to the
party (right decision) and the police called him to say they'd located his
bike (about 400 m from his home) but he had to pick it up immediately. They
told him if it was stolen from where they'd located it, they didn't want to
know about it. So, he took a cab home and recovered the bike - the ignition
wiring was ripped out and he wheeled it back home. He thought he was OK so
jumped in the car and drove back to the party (wrong decision) but was
pulled up for a random check on the way.....

We live in different times from when I was a 20 year old (probably a good
thing!).

Yes, Nev, they've been discussed before, but no one (IMHO) has pointed
out the regulations before!

As far as effectiveness, though, one my leadwing riding mates in the US
was t-boned (bye bye GL1500) while riding in middle of group, wearing
conspicuity vest, with headlight modulator on, by a SMIDSY.

Cheers
