Post subject: rider down 85 N tues morn
Archived from groups: ba>motorcycles (more info?)

I was northbound in the HOV lane when traffic started slowing in the
center lane, splitting left and right. In the center lane was a stopped
white jeep with a huge dent in the tail gate, and a silver grey R1150 on
the ground behind it. I pulled over to assist.

The rider was on the pavement at the right rear of the jeep. One person
stabilized his helmet while another called 911. The guy was awake,
responsive, and could wiggle his fingers and toes. He asked me to shut
off his bike and get it away from him, as it was belching oil and a red
fluid.

I turned it off and got it upright, but the rear wheel was locked even
with the clutch in. It was so oily that several of us just drug it to
the side. I tried to put it on the side stand but it wouldn't stay
upright. I got the laptop bag off the bike and set it next to the rider
for the ambulance.

He was wearing a good full face helmet, a good armored jacket, good
gloves and boots. He reported pain in his hips, maybe from impact with
the tank. But he was alert and responsive.

Two CHP's showed up on their BMW's and rain gear, then told everyone not
a witness to clear out. That included me so I headed on to work just as
it started to rain. I hope the guy is OK.

Ouch. Health and good luck to the rider.

I wonder what the story is. About seven years ago my roommate had a car
accident while riding his K75 that resulted in a similar dent to the car
.... and worse to my roommate. Sad The car swerved and slowed down right
in front of him. }: (
