a small crash messed up both my hands, but not so badly that i couldn't
work.
friday I finally decided it was time to get back on the horse. a buddy and
I went
on a 150 mile ride...20 of it tough trail and the rest gravel roads. we
definitely cut off
more than we should have chewed....we did make the loop, but just barely.
my bike
however is giving up the ghost...i believe i scorched the cam and other
associated parts.
lots of noise coming from the engine that shouldn't be there. guess it's
time to learn how
to fix a bike, because i sure can't afford to pay someone else to do it.
the ride itself was challenging. lots of hairpin switchbacks on steep
mountain sides going both
up and downhill. some steep drops on rocks that you didn't want to mess up
on. About 10
downed trees to negotiate around. a lousy map and a gps that didn't work.
i dropped the
bike about 4 times and my buddy about 6 times....guess that means we were
trying hard and
very tired. towards the end of the trail, we were having trouble just going
straight. hot from
all the gear i put on, and not enough water made me weaker than i would have
thought....but
my hands worked out pretty well. had a hard time lifting the bike when it
fell, but i always do.
now i can't wait to get the bike fixed.
