I was just sitting around pondering the best ride I ever took and came up
with this one. It was a trip to Colorado on my old BMW I don't know how
many years back. I had only been there on vacation there once before in a
pickup with a camper. The worst park about a Colorado ride is the getting
there. We rode to Durango and set up camp then just took day trips. Being
on a bike surrounded by mountains and forest keep us in awe. You could ride
slow and stop anywhere by just pulling off the side of the road.
We made Durango area, Buena Vista, Leadville, and Rocky Mountain National
Park. Believe you me it was a long ride home. I will never forget the
majesty of the country. I have since made 4 more trips on a bike up there
but none will ever compare with the first.

Motorcycling and camping are a marriage made in heaven. I can understand how
your trip to Colorado would leave such good memories.
I can not wait for the weather to cool down so I can do some weekend camping
and riding in Texas.
Maybe next year I can make it to Colorado.

‘‘MrHoma, I ve made that very, yes ,very trip, and you are so
right, it was my favorite also’’ There were three of us. I
remember waking up one morning, in the Durango area, at a KOA, (I
think?) and that mornoing it was about 35*. heehee.
When we started home, we wanted to ride a different direction to get
bake to NETexas We were in Colo.Springs, and decided to ride due east,
into Kansas. We wanted to see Dodge City. That was my first long trip.
I think it was about 3000 in 8 days.
Thanks Mr. Homa, for your motorcycle related post topic. And, to think,
some lurkers will post in here, on a whelm, that we don't ever have moto
threads going. (smile) . Hope you are doing well, sir.
