On Offer 1992 HONDA NR750 Full Power Model 130 h.p. VIN#
RC40-1000114
This is a rare opportunity to own one of the most acclaimed racing
machines ever created. On offer is a brand new, never ridden, world-record
holding 1992 Honda NR750 full power model. The NR750 was Honda's opportunity
to show what they could do -- and they did. GP rider Loris Capirossi rode
the NR750 to set the fastest one-mile lap record from both a flying and
standing start. He also set records for fastest 10K and for holding over
200mph for a full mile on the oval track.
The ultimate in technical innovation, only 200 of these machines were
built by Mitsuyoshi Kohama on a "no expense spared" budget. This is the bike
that made him famous and he went on to design the new Honda RC211V Moto GP
bike ridden by Valentino Rossi. Employing advanced engine technology,
complex exhaust routing and design touches like carbon fiber composite
bodywork and a titanium-tinted screen, Kohama's Honda design team reached
new levels in performance, design and technical innovation with the NR750.
The engine is an oval-pistoned V-4 unit and is the only production
bike to incorporate this system, developed by Honda to yield V-8 performance
from an engine with half the cylinders. The NR750 was also the first
production motorcycle to feature carbon fiber and titanium as standard
composite parts.
The PGM-FI fuel injection was state-of-the-art in 1992, employing
seven sensors and a 16-bit CPU to control the eight injectors as well as the
ignition timing. In addition it altered the position of an inlet duct in the
airbox to regulate airflow. 747cc Oval Pistons in a V4, turn indicators in
the rear view mirrors, real carbon fiber bits, twin fuel injectors, twin
spark plugs, titanium con-rods, titanium-coated alloy frame to prevent
scratches, 260kph, 15,000rpm ... what else can be said? This is the most
coveted production motorcycle in history.
How does it feel to ride? How does one describe a dream?
The engine ticks over with the same V-4 rumble as an RC45, but open
the NR up and the differences become immediately known. Four oval pistons
deliver what the rider demands: a noise seeps from deep inside the bike like
someone cutting a bass drum in half with a chainsaw. Though the sound is
intoxicating, the riding it is even better. For starters, you'd swear you
were sitting on a fat RVF400 - the NR is only 7mm taller. The riding
position is racy without being cramped or uncomfortable. It's a modern
position even by today's standards with high pegs and low seat. The ratio of
the seat to pegs and the reach to the bars holds the body in a near perfect
riding position - you don't hold onto the NR, it holds you to leave the
upper body totally free of tension. You experience a dream-like feeling and
can move to any position on the bike with no effort.
How does it feel to ride? It's sublime.
