"The report claims there will be a 2-4 per cent reduction in motorcycle road
trauma as a result of the change"

2-4%, they're clutching at straws I see.

From the Vicroads web site, only 3% of registered vehicles are motorcycles,
but 14% of the road fatalities are motorcyclists.

Yep, that's going to make huge difference.

And considering the report also says that's due to stop speeding (where the
cameras and radars are), it'll make even more of a zero difference. How many
motorcycle fatalities occurred near a camera or radar? For that matter, how
many fatalities of ANY type occurred near cameras or radar?

Certainly not surprised it's the Victorians though.

Much like that elephant repellent we have installed in our front yard.
Haven't seen any elephants lately, so it obviously must be working. A proven
technology if you will.

Only difference between my elephant repellent and the speed cameras, is they
spent more money on their marketing people, and thus can show a profit.

I posted this story on a forum IM on, and one bloke who goes by the
name Road Nazi's (yea bacon in franga), some of his replies to th
story.

>Motorcyclists...getting a fine. That is a start. On the spot..a week later...it is all good
> Revenue raising...road safety...doesn't matter..as long as they start towing the line..it is all good. A few extra demerits may cause them to adjust their riding style.
> Nah, motorcyclists tend to hide behind their invincibility and covert apearance... They had number plates in the 40's and 50's...just wasn't trendy to have them in the last 50 years. And don't try the front number plate is dangerous routine...bloody riding a motorcycle is dangerous ...fullstop.

Have these idiots forgotten the reason these things were abandoned
across the entire planet in the first place?

They're dangerous. To the rider and to pedestrians involved in
collisions. Suddenly revenue collection is more important than
peoples lives. We must live in a society with deeply confused morals
for a proposal such as this to be taken seriously..

Obviously several layers of the govco do not change when the top end of

town changes , along with those levels come draconian std of thought and

behaviours so I wonder if purging the career uncivil servants might be

an idea ?

Tas police bikes have been running illegal front plates for a few years now.

Illegal because the road rules in Tas say you may not run a front plate on a
bike. They are stuck to the windscreen.

How is a front numberplate dangerous to the rider?
