Eh? If it's got a reg plate on it, it must have been registered at some
time. But it might not have been registered with the DVLA computer -
just on the old paper system.

 > am I right in
 > thinking that it can be sold seperately,

Maybe. If it *is* registered with DVLA, and it was done a while ago,
the yes, it can be sold. You'll need to MoT the bike first.

 > and that it's probably worth
 > more than the bike?

Again, maybe, depends what the number is and how bad a state the bike is
in. Desirable numbers can fetch thousands, run of the mill ones around
UKP200.

If the number isn't registered at DVLA, you might be able to get it
back. You'll need some documentation to prove the number belongs to the
bike - that's bits of paper like an old log book, MoT, tax disc, etc.
Just having the actual pate isn't enough. But, if you do this, the
number will be not-transferable, so you won't be able to sell it.

So, all in all, the chances are that it's not going to be a saleable number.

  > (and does anyone wanna buy a 1967 BSA C15? Onna stick?)

Ah, 1967, so it's a number with a suffix - that reduces the chances of
it being a sought-after number.

Being a 1967 vehicle it has possibly got a rare E reg.

1967 was the registration year that ran from Jan 1st to August 1st, so
only 7 months worth of plates were issued. Add that to that the fact
that 1967 was a very bad year for car and bike sales, so registrations
were accordingly quite low.
