And if you do this on your wooden deck you save yourself time
and money in not having to stain it when spring rolls around. >> Stay informed about: oiling the chain on a Yamaha yzf600 |

However a properly oiled chain will attract the same amount of grime.
Actually the new bel-ray chain grease is quite good, not like previous spray
lubes.
Spray it on and give a wipe within 5 min. Chain comes out just like new
factory grease.
No fling and very little dust attracted because it's actually less stickey
that gear oil.
The new bel-ray is more a benifit to offroad biking though.

That's not been my experience, having done it both ways.

I've tried a number of "no fling" spray lubes: Bel-Ray, PJ1, Bardahl, Honda
brand. And they all flung. I hope someone has made a better spray lube since
I stopped using them, but I've got no reason to switch back, since the gear
oil method works great for me. My chain is always well lubed, but not oily
or sticky, and there's no sludge layer accumulating around my countershaft
sprocket. Plus I never did like shelling out $10 for a can of of the
spray-on stuff.

I use gear oil as well. The thing about the bel-ray is that it is not the
sticky type that leaves strings of grease.
Also the key is to wipe it down after, many spary users don't do this.
I would buy a can for touring, but that's about it.

you are passing a great product from BelRay
I used it on my Honda VTR1000 for 2 years.
The chain was perfect when I sold the bike with 2 years of hard riding
I only had to adjust the chain 1 time after about the first month.

nothing piles up

wrong again

you pass.
you are obviously stuck in the past not the present
time marches on
advancements are made
modern chemistry and science makes new and better things for chains
you can poo poo all day
1000's of people are very happy with the new no-fling BeyRay chain lube.
It requires no old school ideas to use it.
Just spray at the end of a ride. Nothing more required
No cleaning, no wiping NOTHING MORE REQUIRED.
Just spray and ride and enjoy a long life chain experience

Did you do it with the new formula BelRay no mess spray lube?
Or some old crap?

messy gear lube that messes your wheel and tire.
Now there is a novel idea

Not so fast... I've had a number of factory representatives at
motorcycles shows wanting my Busy Little Shop to promote their latest
chain lube wonder stuff... but as I perform my interim test their
product fails every time... namely I go over the the owners bike and
open the oil filler cap and get ready to spray the contents of the chain
lube inside their engine... naturally they yell "stop" citing "it's not
good for an engine and will gum up the works"...
I say... if the manufacture warns you not to spray their chain inside
*their* engine then it has no business on your chain either...

I'll believe you after I hear from a reliable source that they used this
product for 20k miles and upon removing their sprocket cover to replace the
chain did not find a horrible gooey mess of piled up sludge and debris.
As you said in another post, you used the product for 2 years on your VTR,
up until you sold the bike. That means this product was available at least 2
years ago, which is about the same time I tried Bel-Ray "no fling" chain
lube. The salesperson swore up and down the stuff wouldn't fling off the
chain. But guess what happened.
Yep. You know the rest.

My bike's manual recommends SAE 90 for the chain. No way that's going in the
engine either.
