I second that. It was definately a Gerbil-Terrier. Not many people
know this but it actually started the whole GT class.

I could'a swore Gere was riding a paralell twin.

What an utter load of crap they were, slow, unreliable, poor handling,

Beardg>Back in 1969 when my Triumph TR6R was made it was one of the best bikes
on the road. It has been uterly reliable, even with all the original electrics.
Has taken me on many multi hundred mile days without a breakdown that couldn't
be fixed with a bit of tape and a leatherman. At the time the Bonny was the
fastest bike on the road, easily beating the hotted up XLCH by HD. We have to
remember the time frame of these bikes. And my 1969 TR6R is now worth about
4K$....It sold new for 1200$......What bike you have that does that? The
Triumphs are an ageless classic that when set up correctly are very reliable
and a fun ride on back roads.
Yes Mr. Gere was riding a Triumph Bonny...and he got the girl.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: what motorcycle was Richard Gere riding in " an officer an.. |

You credibility suffered with that well aged report of 'there might maybe
possibly be something that looks like plutonium, we think' report. This
post utterly demolished it.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: what motorcycle was Richard Gere riding in " an officer an.. |

I'm glad you and your bike have had good times. However, here in the UK
most riders quickly lost interest in poor build quality and ancient
designs that marked the British industry through the 70's. The Japanese
cleaned up and deserved to given the home competition was so lousy. From
what I recall H-D were in similar dire straights if they had'nt had
protectionist taxes put on the competition by your Government?
Thankfully the reborn Triumph has emulated its Japanese rivals and
produced what the customer wants ... modern, reliable, quality bikes. In
real value terms I doubt the 4K$ you mention is that good, my uncles
1959 R69 BMW seems to be worth thousands of UK pounds now but such is
the case for good condition older vehicles.
I am sure there are owners of the original 1969 Honda CB750 four and the
later Z1 Kawasaki that have done far more reliable use than any old brit
... at the end of the day if they were as good as some rose coloured spec
wearers try to intimate they were we would all still be riding them not
products from Japan.

No, you're thinking of the gerbil-mastiff with the external oil cooling
and dual concrete counter-rotating balancer shafts.

Hence the smaller 3.2

Beardg>>My 1969 TR6R has all the original electrics,points,zenor diode,positive
ground, the whole nine yards. I have owned this bike for 7 years. I give it a
full service once a year, points, plugs ect,and then only change the oil often. I
ride it about 4-5k a year(Its one of 3 bikes). The bike has never stranded
me...I have fixed it on the side of the road twice, with electrical tape and my
leatherman. The engine runs strong(no drips on the ground, does mist a
bit),starts in 3 kicks at worse and is a sweet ride in the backroads.Parts are
plentiful, cheap (try that on your Honda)and easy to fix. The earlier Triumphs
were well made(before the mid seventies) After that, labor troubles and many
blunders by the company caused the bikes to suffer badly. No matter how you
feel about Hondas.....Triumphs will always be considered a classic design for
it's time and one of the greatest motorcycles ever made.
And how much proof do you pin heads need about WMD....shit even your buddy
Billy C says they had them...and still does say so.Its a moot point anyways. A
point that Libs lamely cling to as they flounder on to another huge loss in the
next election.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: what motorcycle was Richard Gere riding in " an officer an.. |

Sheesh you sure smoke some funny stuff ?
I tell you what you take yourself and your Trumpet down to the nearest
bike shop and ask any of the guys there if they'd rather have a Triumph
twin or an R1, GSXR1000 etc ..
.... and what the frell does WMD have to do with Triumph twins ... oh yes
they're both as rare as fuck and both likely to blow up ;o)
