Hey, I'm looking for a sportbike and I need something that is low so I
can touch the ground. Slightly bigger than a midget (5'6"),my inseam
on my pants is 30". Any sportbikes that are built low? I'll take
anything from 1980 up so I'm flexible on the bike but it needs to have
a lower seat for my "sawed off" legs so I can touch the friggin
ground.
Thanks, Gerald

Just get an SV650... not the S model... take off the seat and fit a peice of
plywood in its place with two inches of air craft temper foam from Larry
Lovisone...and yer ass will be 28" off the ground... on a real nice sport
type bike. and only 375 lbs..which is nice too.

I have a 30" inseam too...and Im 5'10" tall,... I can flat foot the bike
with both knees bent...very nice. You should also replace the shock with
a fox that has has ride height adjusment... that can take it even lower.

The strategy will work on most sport bikes I think, many have 4" of hard
foam in the seat ...by going narrower and lower you gain a lot... you should
be able to take 4 to 5" off any sport bike out there by these two means..

After you lower the rear you can also slide the front fork tubes up in the
triple clamps 2" on many bikes to keep the fork angle the same.

For the most fun get something real light, under 250 lbs...

Buell XB9s L. The L stands for low. Do not get the 9s as it sits up
higher.

I once knew a gal with a '94 ZX-6E. She stood about 5'9". Fit her
great. I thought it was comfortable, too (5'11").

Uh, there's a world of difference between 5'6" and 5'9". I'm 5'9" with a
34" inseam and I can flat foot it on every bike I've sat on-- although some
of the tallest dirt bikes are a bit of a stretch. At 5'6" a SV650 seems to
work well.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Im 5'10 with a 30inch inseam and the SV was too tall for me..... but without
the 4" thick seat it was 27" with a 1" pad it was 28... then I lowered the
rear 2" I can flat foot it now with knees bent/

I think you should be able to do that with almost any bike... until I put
the plywood seat on though, I had 6 battery filler plugs making marks in my
cheekd on long rides.

Then I put the plywood on..and found a fur of some sort on the road... a cat
maybe I dont know for sure..and put that on there...and then I went to
Alices where Gary J and Andy RIDICULED the seat.... with no consideration
that it was someones beloved pet at one time.

I'm 5'6" also. My Honda CBR600F3 is perfect fit! Both feet on the ground.
When I'm in boots both feet are flat on the ground.

So. You wear jeans with a 36-inch inseam, huh? F3 is uncomfortably tall for
many 5' 6" riders...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I could be that the previous owner made some modifications. However, my
inseam is 30". I'm very comfortable with it.

When I met you, your seat did not yet have the fur upgrade.

I'm 5'7" and I used to own an F3, and was comfy on it with both feet on
the ground. Perhaps you're thinking of an F4? The seat on the F4 is
wider, which makes it harder to get your feet down.
