Well, a mild titter would suffice. You are a humourless know-it-all
safety Nazi, aren't you? I bet you're an IAM member.

That didn't answer his question, though, did it?

A few years earlier there were major roadworks widening the M5 Avonmouth
bridge. After a string of fatal incidents the authorities increased the
number of cameras to four in each direction. At this point the sheer
stupidity of many road users became clear, with dozens getting instant
totting-up bans by getting caught 4 times within 2 miles. The fatalities
continued, but somewhat reduced. >> Stay informed about: m27 spec on roadworks |

That happened last year on the M25 near the Watford junction IIRC and
there's a train of thought that the M25/M3 roadworks are experimental
too. Has anyone *ever* seen any work going on there?

That just shows how random events are distributed. Get a couple of
fatalities
in one location, the cameras go up, the accident rate goes back down.
It would go down just the same if a statue of St. Christopher was
erected instead,
or if nothing was done.
Doesn't it count as a single offence if you trigger 4 cameras in 2 miles?

Come on then, provide a web reference for deaths of roadworkers
attributed to speeding vehicles.

CT ("CT" <me.DeleteThis@christrollen.co.uk>) gurgled happily, sounding much like they

It worked beautifully for those going round the M25...
If only they'd take the hint and put a proper M1(N)-M25 junction in,
instead of signing all the M25(W) traffic through the middle of Watford,
they could sort that chaos out properly. >> Stay informed about: m27 spec on roadworks |

Depends. There are instances when beaks have accepted a 'single event'
plea. You really don't know much, do you?
Anyway, how about this link between speed and road worker casualties?
Hint: this is something I actually had to research a few years back. >> Stay informed about: m27 spec on roadworks |

See there you go. *Conclusive* proof that speed must kill
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/442182.stm
"A south Wales man was among four workers killed while repairing a motorway"
Although
www.highways.gov.uk/news/pressrelease.aspx?pressreleaseid=136814
but it doesn't mention circumstances.
I expect there is something of a Darwin award to be had while working on
roads

No, 4 separate offences so an instant ban. There were PLENTY of warning
signs. Several drivers went through the 40 limit at 60+ and also collected
convictions for dangerous driving. At least one went through all 4 cameras
at 80+ and served one year of a 2 year sentence plus a very long driving ban. >> Stay informed about: m27 spec on roadworks |
