So typically it's 3 or more months between rides on my KDX... when
it's that long, I drain the premix and start fresh. I'm going riding
tomorrow afternoon, and it's been just over a month since I last rode
the bike. There's still 1/2 tank or more in it. Use it? Drain it?

thanks,
Craig

I'd use it.

Y'know, I was going to make some smartass comment about how 4-strokes
don't need to worry about that, but then I remembered that the
people's republic of CT uses gasohol, and I find I'm treating it just
like premix.
Dang.

Sounds like a good excuse to mix up some molotov cocktails to me.

Good quality pre-mix has fuel stabilizers in it.
Un-mixed gas will go stale much quicker.

Use it. Just pour some fresh pre-mix in with it.

Me: if it runs, I burn it...

I'd definitely run the month old gas.

I have gas in my 250R that's been in there for 2+ years now.
(I use it that much... riding it out in front of the house
the few times I put it out for sale). All I did was use
stabil, and the thing still fires up after a handfull of
kicks. No joking.

Thread hijack:

What do you think about the new gas, Dave?

I hear the MTBE crap we have in the other New England states
is horribe, peformance wise.

I was over the border in CT this weekend, and filled my
truck up with the good stuff. (it calls for at least 91)

This is the only vehicle I've ever noticed a difference
when running high test gas in it. I didn't notice any
difference with acual SOTP feel with this ether-whatever
gas, but my mileage was a small amount better, and the
truck "popped" less on deacceleration.

It seems like every other tank of gas I get up here, the
truck runs horrible. (It's the GM high compression 6.0L
-- the computer LOVES to pull timing when knock is sensed).

It's been running strong this whole tank, and I don't know
what to think just yet.

I only have run my L on CT MTBE crap, CT Gasohol, and
what-the-heck-ever was down in Arkansas.
My jetting was set up good for the MTBE stuff, it seemed to run the
same in AR, and I'm still futzing to get it right for gasohol.
My 4L V6 ranger ran better pre-MTBE, and seems to be the same on the
gasohol.

Relative to using STA-BIL in the gas. With the gasohol, it can sit for
a little less than a week and it doesn't want to start until I drain
the bowl.
Pre-gasohol (MTBE) it would sit for weeks and start no sweat.

I got one better than that. I pulled the tarp off the BMW a few weeks back,
dropped in a new riding lawn mower battery and it fired up instantly...on a
tank of gas purchased in 1998. Sta-Bil is the stuff.

Not a bad idea, but if I started doing that, I'd actually have to buy fuel
for my lawn mower/weedwhacker/etc...
