You mean you're using the sockets for spacers? If they are chromed it
might not look bad, but a cheaper way might be to buy two large
hexagonal thread extenders and slip the bolt through the oversize
threads. The thread extenders would probably be cadmium or nickel
plated and they would corrode, so you'd throw them away and buy new
ones ever few years.
