Just keep in mind that the thicker the leather, the more protection it
offers, but it'll get hot as heck during warmer months. I've got a
heavy one that's really good for winter riding. I've got a lighter one
that's good up to about 78F and I've got a textile one 78F+.
My point: you may have to own more than one jacket for year-round use.

Don't worry about it. All it takes is for someone to admit they're
new, and the superiority complexes come out of the woodwork. Makes
people feel better about themselves when they think they have made
others feel inferior.
Visibility is one of the 2 most important factors I take into
