We entered that particular run via 2c (right behind the office and next to
the youth trail) from there, I can't remember if we hit 1C or 1B. Looking at
the map, I'd bet your tree was on the 1B loop.

Well, whoever made the trail map that I have should be shot anyway.
There are at least 7 different trail segments all labeled "2C,"
ranging from that trail behind our camp that you and I first rode
together, to a section clear over behind the youth trail with no
direction marker. If you rode the *entire* 2C loop as marked on the
map it looks to be much larger than the loop we were doing when I
spoded out.

Even 1B has like 5 different segments, including that never ending
loop we rode with Scrape on Sunday. They should really rethink their
trail numbering system. All I know is that 9C is a mutherf$%*er when
your hot, tired, and riding an RM-250 that won't idle!

Dude, that sucks! I'm still spending most of my work hours ~50 minutes south
of Raleigh, do I need to make a trip up and bring a little alcohol (in the
barley & hops home-brew mode) along to clean help clean out that wound?

It was that section of 2C (directionally un-marked behind the office) that
we first jumped on that day and then rolled on to either 1B or 1C...

I'm thinking it was trail 1B behind and to the left of where it says "single
track" and "roller Coaster Drop"

Agreed, and not overly friendly for a lesser rider on a 2,800lb cast
iron-framed DR350S either.

Sorry to hear that. How long are you going to be around?

The only place to ride near there is Devils Ridge - old school MX
and a Hare Scrambles course that they, in their infinite wisdom,
decided to clear cut last year. But they painted most of the
stumps with neon orange paint to make it "safe". Can't imagine
how good it's going to be this year with brush grown up and hiding
the stumps.

I avoid the place.

Lesser than who? RahRah? Spodely? Li'l John?
I dunno about "lesser rider," you're certainly in better condition
than I, but that pig you were riding was certainly a lot to wrestle
with. That said, I would enjoy riding with you anywhere at any time,
Keith.

Back home as of late last night, but I'll be spending 2-4 days a week there
for at least another month.
Should be back in town Mon-Wed next week.

I heard about Devils Ridge from a local HS rider that I know (jwt429) from
the member forum on the Off Camber Riders Association site
http://www.rideoffcamber.com/ which is a new upstart racing league in
running in the SE. Don't know if I'll get a chance to bring my bike over
anytime soon as my company car is a Mazda 3 Smile

Yep, I'd say that you and Wuds shared the top rung on the podium on helping
with that particular decision.
