He's the person who authored RFC-850 "Standard for the Interchange of
Usenet Messages" in 1983, so I suppose that probably _would_ make him
the sheriff of usenet. He's also the author of the oldest usenet
posting archived by google groups - 11 May 1981. (..and because it's
mardi gras week you can call him Mary-Ann).

I don't know if I'd buy Russian port of the internet, there's some
nice ports come out of Mudgee though. BT's brother has a bottle of
very nice port.

Well, that pretty much pins it down, doesn't it? If you don't care
what other people's experiences and opinions are, why should anyone
reciprocate.

Kill yourself, George...

Johno, my name is not Dale Carnegie

I don't give a rats arse as to how long someone says they have been on the internet
or on newsgroups,
personally, I started using the newsgroups around 1978, when it was just a bulletin
board in the Uni and the only way you could post a message was to dial into the Uni
computer, then wait ten to fifteen minutes for a message to go through, and that
would be only one sentence, not a whole page.
Before that, I used a teletype machine to send messages,
before that, morse code.

I see something, I like it and think it might be nice to share it with others because
I havdn't seen it before, then I post it, not knowing there are a few in the
newsgroup who don't care if someone hasn't seen the particular item, but they have a
year or so ago, so they have an urgency in their brain that they simply have to tell
everyone that they have seen it and with the almost usual message "welcome to 1995"
or whatever year they decide looks good for themself and their followers, of which
there are a few and stand out like dog's balls, mainly because they haven't got the
brain power to come up with a reply of their own, so they follow like sheep, makes me
think that they come from New Zealand.

There are one or five here who love to dispute anything and everything that I post,
I can handle that,
then there are the parasites, who hang on to my detractors words and even repeat them
as if they are their own, the wannabee.

If you post something Johno, someone else disagrees with you and replies with a
barbed comment, then you reply to that and so on and so forth, which I have seen and
you cannot deny that but,
everyone is happy because no-one has really said anything derogatory,
but then, in comes the parasite with some comment which makes no sense at all, so you
arc up and make an equally nasty comment, then someone else climbs onto the bandwagon
and before you know it, the meaning of the original post is lost and been hijacked to
another topic

Still time for you to change your drinking habits Johno, beer rattles the brain
If there ever is a possiblty of meeting up with you Johno, you will be surprised as
to how much of a gentle, meek and mild person I am

Bundy Johno?

Big effin!
Does Henry Ford dictate road rules or Copernicus decide what you can look at
through your telescope?
Hell the internet itself used to belong to the US military but they haven't
got much say in how much Russian port there is on it now!
Rules are only rules if there is an enforcable penalty for breaching them.

Universities are not the world.
Just 'cause all you university gnomes had these guidelines beaten into you
for 5 / 10 / 15 years, you fantasise that they're "real".
Wake up.

He was the first car manufacturer in the USA to switch the driver's seat
to the LHS of the car, even though convention prior to that in the USA
was to drive on the RHS of the road in a RHD car and now most/(all)
countries who drive on the RHS have LHD cars, so to that extent, yes, he
did dictate some road rules.

What I find hilarious is that George reckons he's been on the 'net 30 years
and yet this is the first time he's ever read any of these tired, lame
joke-posts that have been cramming our mailboxes all this time.
Make you wonder if maybe he's had email for 30 years but he's only now
figured out how to open messages.....

Aww now come on, if it's a 386 then you would have been at least on

But there is a penalty for not following accepted guidelines and pissing
people off. People will go out of their way the be harsh to you, some will
even stop talking to you.
