Yeah, there are bats all round the world, but vampire bats - the ones
that trasmit disease - are restricted to certain parts of the world,
here is not one of this part and I am sure entire US is not on the
area of them. Hmmm, is there a chance of the dog being bitten by a
cat? Slim. By a raccoon? Don't know, this critter does not live
here... Foxes are too afraid of dogs to even come close. I am sure
that you will be more than ok, as soon as the wound heals...

'Coons and skunks are the most important carriers around here,
probably around scrape too.

The adrenalin statement reminds me of the time a friend and I were
riding cross country (back around 1980) in the backwoods of west
central Arkansas, and came out in the back yard of a mafia hideout.
(It was nice from the rear of the farm house.) I got a heck of a shot
of adrenalin when the guy pointed a sawed off shotgun at us (at point
blank range) and said, "You're on private property, and from the
direction you've come from, you've been on private property for a long
time."
I said, "I'm trying to find out how to get to Little Missouri Falls,
and must have gotten lost. If you would please show me which
direction to take, I'll do my best to fix it so you never see me
again."
He pointed a direction with the shotgun. We left. No one chased us.
But... I nearly messed my pants when two days later, our route took us
(unknowingly) past the front of the same place; and the front yard was
full of people.

Scrape's always been a little batty, so I'm sure he'll be fine.

It appears that 99% of fatal human cases are in Africa, Asia and
South America, according to Wikipedia. 30,000 cases annually.
It's certainly much lower here.

Oddly enough, I have very little feeling for the dog and hope he,
like Castro, gets to meet Karl Marx very soon.
