The reason for that would be that even an OE rad for a Magna would be
manufactured locally... and it wouldn't be exactly cheap, either...
otherwise, radiator workshops wouldn't be able to get away with
charging $350 for a radiator overhaul.
For most imported cars, I don't imagine a new OE radiator would leave
much change from a thousand bucks. Factor in the smaller core and
lower manufacturing volume of a bike rad, and it gets easy to see how
a brand-new OE radiator for a bike runs to $1200.
To reiterate, he's got no shortage of *much* cheaper options, cheaper
to the tune of amounting to 10% of that OE replacement cost... and you
shouldn't attach any worries about unreliability or complexity to
liquid-cooling. |

Mr Rolls (or was it Mr Royce?) used to say that complexity doesn't
matter as long as it's reliable. Thankfully, I don't have to pay R-R
spares prices. Scrounging for second hand parts? Hmmm
Seriously though, it amazes me how people will jump to defend outrageous
spares costs. These things have been made for 100 years, and are mass
produced. Do you guys have shares in motorbike companies? |

Add airfreight to storage costs, in countries where real estate is far
more expensive than here.
I try to remember to leave in attributions, if not at the top then in

If I run a motorcycle service business, and I keep a dozen spark plugs on
the shelf, along with a few light globes, and a speedo cable or two, that's
called warehousing Jordan. It will cost me money.

New to bike riding in AUS - Hi all, I have driven bikes (150 cc) for @ 10 years but not in AUS. In AUS I need to start with 250cc as per law and hence my choice is narrowed down to 250cc. I like bikes and wanted one for hobby/weekend drive. Most likely, I will be keeping the bike...
