Well, yes. I did have one of the earliest of the Poseur Permits.

OK, but I prefered the offer of a beer wench.

I was under the impression that Honda Oz were actually going to import
the current model Honda Hornet 600, and also the naked 1000 cc beastie,
what ever it may be called.
I think that Honda should give away T-shirts with each of the Hornet
600's bought, with "The Older I get, the faster I was."
This could reposition the 600 Hornet from being a "girlie" bike, as it
was considered 10 years ago, to being one for an old fart with delusions
of hoonery.

I dunno who, in Honda Oz, picks the numbers for prices, but they are
pretty incompetent, judging by past efforts.
OTOH, maybe they like picking up a fat, full-price sale or two early on,
and then reducing the price later, to absolutely kill second-hand
values. <shrug>
See Blackbirds, Hornets, Dullvilles, etc.

The same reason you don't mix tyres on the same axle , radials and xply
have very different side wall construction and the handle so differently
that mixing the wrong way is a sure gazump for a fall. >> Stay informed about: Best time to sell or trade in |

I bought a pair of em last month, pretty happy with them as well
Went for the wide ones this time, they're 25mm rather then the 23 that
came on the bike

But I never mix motorcycle tyres on the same axle!

There are 600 cc bikes which are good commuters, it's just the Hornet
isn't one of them.

There is no such thing as a free lunch.....
Everything is a compromise.
What appeals to you, may not work for some one else.
> What bikes do you people prefer to be riding when in traffic?
I like an upright riding position, a light and nimble, small motorcycle.
I also like it to be relatively cheap, both in price and in fuel and
tyre consumption.
Where you park can also have a bearing. If you park out on the street,
the last thing you want to leave is a flash, expensive motorcycle with a
"Steal Me" sign on it.
It also has to be relatively cool (in a temperature sense). Sitting in
Sydney traffic on a Hornet on a hot day is not fun. I know, 'cos I have
done it.
I used to use my Yamaha DX125, if I had to go into Sydney. Since I sold
that bike, I now use the RZ250, which is not an ideal commuter bike, but
better than the Hornet (and the Street Triple!).
I have no idea how much you want to spend and what appeals to you, but,
as examples, look for twin cylinder motors, air cooled and not producing
big horsepower numbers.....
Suzi GS500? Guzzi 750 ?(Zebee will supply the model names!) Triumph
Bonneville? Ducati's wee Monster, 695?
As a final wild suggestion, how about a Bergman 400?

Dave at Tyres for Bikes recommended them for my CB1300. Not the newest
design but very good he reckons. I have Bridgestone 015s which are
nice and grippy in the dry but make the bike feel like it's hinged in
the middle in the wet. Can't recommend them.
Another tyre getting good reviews is the Avon Storm ST. Deep tread for
mileage, good sport touring performance. On my list for next change.

F$%KKIN' BL*&%^DY SH*$%TTI&NG not very far actually Peter!!
I bought the fork-tube kit from the UK before Christmas and I asked him to
not include the fork-oil as I figured the freight wasn't worth it.
I didn't complain when I got no discount for the deleted oil and I didn't
complain when he charged me the non-applicable VAT (non-Euro order) and I
didn't even complain when he charged me 6 pounds more than he'd quoted for
freight but I did point out that he'd omitted the fork-seals.
I reminded him again in January and I reminded him again in February but
despite the promises I still haven't received the fukking things!!
I would've been riding it at Christmas had he just replied "I'm a thieving
cunt and you've done your dough...." but I've been a stupid sucker and
actually BELIEVED his "I posted them last week....".
If I don't get them tomorrow Triumph Australia gets $50 richer.

I pulled up at a red light and a scooter pulled alongside. I could see he
was looking at me in that needy, "I'm a Bikie too" way but I was waaay too
cool to acknowledge him with any more than a cursory and very minor
tilt-of-the-head.
Come the green and he stood the scooter near-vertical and did a 100m+
wheelie between the stopped traffic.
He won, I lost! Scooter-riders can be very cool.
