It is really odd, some of the things I've thought about, while crashing.
Usually, I'm first thinking of how much the bike is going to cost to repair.
Then, right before impact, I wonder if I'm going to get knocked out, and wake
up in a hospital. Once, when I went tumbling a bunch of times, after I saw
sky for the 4th time and didn't seem to be slowing down any, I was wondering
if I would ever stop.
Well, on the track, crashing just isn't a big deal - it is part of the
game. Just try and relax and hope it all works out. I know some track
only guys who view crashing as this horrible experience where you are
lucky to get up and walk away, and when they do crash, they make a big
deal out of it. The reality is most crashes (on the track) don't send
you to the hospital - just make you sore as hell. Most of the racers
I know just take crashes in stride.
Now, on the street, it can be a different experience. I recently crashed
in an area I was comfortable with - just relaxed as though I was on the track
and watched the bike slide away from me. When I first started riding, I
had a couple crashes right off the start that could have ended bad due to
road things, though. I'm not sure how well I would just relax even now days
if I knew I was headed into the side of a mountain....

That, right there, is what I believe is the most important part.
