Mine was "Northwest Passage Scenic Byway" which is US-12
from Lolo, MT to Lewiston, ID. The most scenic and enjoyable
part of that ride is westbound from Lolo, MT to Kooskia, ID.
http://www.idahobyways.gov/byways/northwest-passage.aspx

Definately stop at Lochsa Lodge near Powell, ID and Cougar
Canyon Station in Lowell, ID. We usually grabbed lunch at the
Rivers Cafe in Kooskia, ID.

I'm sorry. You're right - 45mph. Still, 469mi at 45mph... that's alot
of scenery for a very long time Smile-

Speed limit is 45mph, and a little less in some places on that route.

US-12 from Lolo, MT to to crest of Lolo Pass is 65/70mph then it
drops to 50mph on the ID side.

I did that road once. It's nice, but I found it a tad boring. There's
a river next to you, and green trees everywhere. And that's it. Green
trees and a river. And mile after mile of turns. Not twisties, but
sweepers, and every single one has the same radius. There's no
variety. You could almost ride the road blindfolded.

You're obviously more into the more challenging twisties which isn't
applicable to US-12. Your description of Lolo Pass is spot-on, but
it's still a very enjoyable and scenic route at a, uh, relaxed pace. ;^)

Then there's SR-13 btw Kooskia and Grangeville, and SR-14 that
cuts southeast from SR-12 to Elk City. BTW, would you take a
look at the 4 online maps of my North Central Idaho Loop sked
for 2008 at www.tvrides.com (no spam nor pop-ups)? Thought
you might have comments/suggestions.

Cheers,

That was a good reason, but I had already seen it in LaCrosse. <g>
Mine was the long ride Mark and I did that Thursday. Moab to the Four
Corners via the Devil's Highway, a short stop at Mesa Verde NP, up the
Million Dollar Highway past Ouray and back across to Moab. That was
some serious scenery to behold and close to my limit of fun in a day.

Coming in a close second was the first time thru the Cherohala Skyway
and Dragon. That was pure unadulterated giggle in your helmet fun.
