He'll lose this case of course. The comments at the end of the article is
discrimination. People that don't ride have the most heavy handed opinion
on helmets.

I don't know, the Canadian government has bowed to this sort of thing

He'll be denied on the safety issue but I have to say if a PA State Trooper
pulled me over and I saw a turban (baseball cap, skull cap, do-rag, crown)
or anything besides a Smokey hat I'd be inclined to take off. I'm just
socially engineered that way. I'm surprised the RCMP allowed this since the
*uniform* is just that.

I like this part.
(Badesha's religion forbids him from putting on anything over his turban
while outside his house.)

If his religion forbids him from putting on anything over his turban
while outside his house.
Then He can put the turban over the helmet. So now whats the problem? Is
there a law saying he can't?

People can laugh or whatever, but I saw the identical issue 15 years ago at
work. The rules within the religion indeed state that you do not put
anything over the turban. This guys not effing around and trying to fight
the lid law, he's just saying that the lid law conflicts with his religion's
teachings. My vote is let the guy ride, but it ain't up to me.

Note how clean and tidy his turban is. Sikhs wash the thing every night and
wrap the gazzillion feet of cloth around thier bean every morning. Now you
know how to recognize a Sikh, when you see a really tidy, crisply done
turban - that's probably a Sikh. In my experience Sikhs are some of the
kindest, most peaceful folks on the planet, not quite Quaker peaceful but
more kind than many of the 'Christians' in the church I was raised in.

Never discuss religion or politics. It's good advice, why am I ignoring it?

Didn't help them in Indian Jones.

Hmmmm, I wonder if the DOT ever did any impact tests on a turban. All that
cloth might actually help protect his head better than some beanies I've
seen.
