How about Perth to Melbourne in two days? OK, OK the second day was 28 hours
but I did 2500 kms in it.

Shadow's a Honda pretend-Harley isn't it?
As such it's designed to make Honda profit; not for any other reason. (and
certainly not because somebody decided to design a middleweight bike to
travel distances on).
You've probably ridden further than any other owner in history!!

Good for you Ron. You have obviously found a bike that suits and fits you.
But, assuming the OP isn't your long lost identical twin, it may not
suit or fit him.
All he has admitted to so far is having been young once (weren't we all
sweetie?), ridden motorcycles in the 70s and 80s and being not too young
now.
Perhaps he is seven foot tall, and twenty stone....<shrug> or five foot
ten and 12 stone, but with a damaged back, and one leg slightly shorter
than the other.
We don;t have enough info to realistically recommend a particular bike.

There is a telephone service available in most major cities in Oz, and,
next time you think you might agree with me, you can call them, and a
sympathetic councilor will try and talk you out of it.

If you want lighter than the BMW or Wing or Hog, good looking and very
comfortable indeed...

Geezs, Johno, I didn't think you were such a snob.
Up till I was about 22 or 23, I used to claim that I'd drink pretty much
anything that had alcohol in it, except gin.
(Well, I am from near enough Glasgow!)
Then, thanks to some civil unrest and the Greek Junta, I did a one week
conversion course, and learnt to drink gin as well.
Grog is good. Some grog is better than others....
Ouzo?

It sure will. You are just using muscles that haven't been worked out for a
while. Get on the bike and you'll quickly become used to it again.

Add a ST1300 to that list.
