Pugs may or may not be good handlers, but the driver was *definitely*
to blame - he(she) made two mistakes.

1. He's driving a FWD car and he lifted off the throttle midturn -
like doing this on a bike it's a BIG mistake - that's why the backend
stepped out (listen to the sound closely you can hear him lift off)

2. Once the back end started coming around he should have turned into
the slide - you'll note the front wheels are barely off dead straight

Bloody idiot. Punting way too hard and WAY beyond his driving skill
sets on a crowded road. The scooter was bloody lucky.

JL
(Never driven that model Peugot, but based on the way the car was
handling until he stuffed up, and my guess of the speed (circa 60-70K)
I'd say that particular car, driven properly, would have easily made
it through those corners on the correct side of the road)

I'd say my preplanned response would be first I'd say it, then I'd do it.

"So far Howard's luck has survived a great deal: his move to dismiss
broken election pledges by distinguishing between "core" and "non-core"
promises; his retrospectively time-limited "never ever" pledge on the
goods and services tax; his vagueness about when he committed Australia
to war against Iraq; his shifting standards for ministerial conduct; his
demonising of asylum seekers as child killers; his tendency to blame
"advice" rather than to openly accept responsibility when things go wrong."
Will Howard's luck survive another election ? Do Australians not care
that their PM is a liar ?

Have to agree with your post. Noticed the same things myself. I would also add that
throttling on during the slide would also have helped in the FWD. I've seen some
incredibly out of shape FWDs pull themselves straight with this technique. As you
comment, though, it was the lift-off oversteer that got him.

Only if the wheels are pointed in the right direction <grin> (ie they
weren't), but right you are - the right response should have been right
full lock and floor it Smile
