I shall be moving to Australia some time in the new year, but saddly having
to leave my pride and joy in the UK. CBR600FV from new.

Sulk Sulk!!

So I may as well buy my next dream. GSXR-1000K5

Does any one have any info they can pass on to me re weather Aus has any
restrictions on the bikes. (i.e. hp). At the moment the UK does not. But the
boffins in Europe wants to restrict all bikes to 100hp. Boo Hoo!.

Does any one know when the K5 comes out in Aus. (i know its 2005). Ha.

No, no HP restrictions.

Lots of speed restrictions though, and more and more enforcement.

2005 models usually surface late in the year before, so around
November/December we should have them. However, considering it's a brand new
model from Suzuki, it might take a while longer. Minor update bikes (like
the 2005 Kwaka ZX10R, CBR1000RR etc should be here at that time). Ask
Suzuki!

Why not bring it to Aus if it's that good!

It's not that difficult. I copied the bit below from part of the
Aussie Customs web site and it is applicable to you. You need to gain
the Vehicle Import Approval before you send the bike over.

Obtain a "VEHICLE IMPORT APPROVAL" from the Vehicle Safety Standards
Branch of the Department of Transport and Regional Services. Phone:
1800 815 272 (Australia only) or (02) 6274 7506, Fax: (02) 6274 6013,
email: mailto:Vimports@aqis.gov.au;

The only other thing necessary is a nice clean bike which would pass
any Quarantine (AQIS) inspection. They will be looking for soil which
could contain weed seeds and insects.

Other than that if you have owned it for more than 2 years and bring
it in as a "Personal Import" there will not be any GST issues -
Australia's VAT.

Aussie spec Suzukis are not restricted. They are also cheaper than in
the UK.

Oct/Nov 2004 if not earlier.

Everything Dave says is right, but given Oz is one of the cheapest
places for bikes in the world, sell the bike in UK and save yourself
the shipping costs.
