Never going to be that simple though, is it?

One hose gone will inevitably be an indicator of others on the way,
then during dismantling Dodger will discover that the clutch
hydraulics are linked to the power steering pump and the air
conditioning, requiring at least 220 lines to explain the intricacies
of dissasembly and why he's once again managed to lay his bike across
three acres of prime Docklands real estate in a thin layer of assorted
componentry.

Probably.

Very. If you walk at a decent brisk pace (and I imagine you do),
it'll put your heart in the 'fat-burning' zone of around 120~130bpm,
which is excellent for your metabolism.

It also very good for your muscular/skeletal system. I'd not had a
moment's back ache until I stopped walking 15~20 mins to work and back
each day - now it's something I have to 'manage'.

V (for it is she) wants to move to Pinner. The commute from there to my
office, using the Met line, is actually longer than the trek from the
arse end of Berkshire. What's up with that?

Well yes - apart from the length of your legs, obviously. Keep that
up and you'll be 3'6" in ten years.

And the air quality in The Smoke. You /do/ wear a Tokyo-approved
filter mask, don't you? That would benefit the people around you as
well, so perhaps not.

I suggest Geoffrey Bayldon.
