I really do. I've been pounding the crap out of my GasGas for 4 years
and it's taken the abuse pretty well. However, I broke something in
the tranny and I am starting to worry about how long before I get
stranded out on the trail with a broken bike simply due to fatigue.
(Think 40 miles out from Baumgartner in Idaho) So, Tracy has given me
the go ahead on a new bike. I need to finance because I just don't
have the cash to by one right now. So, that rules out a new GasGas.

So that means I'm looking for a 2004 KTM 300EXC. The problem is that
they are very popular since the magazine articles that proclaimed it
the best off-road bike. Nobody has one here in NorCal that I have
found. So, if you happen to know where one is, let me know pronto.
Otherwise, the KTM/GasGas dealer in Santa Cruz said he can get me one
from the east coast.

If you want it to be green sticker legal, get a nice used 2002. It doesn't
matter what you ride, you are fast on anything.

Mike I called both my dealers. No go on either a 250 or a 300. My guy at
Letko said he will be getting one more 250 EXC in. Worst case scenario if
you east coast connection doesn't work out: Buy the 250. If you don't
think its enuf power for ya, put a 300 jug and piston on it. Thats the only
difference between the bikes anyway! Let me know...

the exhaust restrictor in it.
