I am 21 years old 6'3 about 190 pounds I would like to spend 6000-7000
would like a cruiser do not care who makes it
other people have told me nothing under 1100 cc because I will out grow it
to fast I know that sounds crazy to most of you but this is my 1st bike
that I be mine
and would like to deck it out
thanks for the advice

Terry, I think that all the fine advice you were given before will still
stand. I know mine does...

Well, if you're a newbie who wants a recommendation and it has to be a
 >1100cc cruiser, you're probably not going to get the answer you want.
Under those conditions, the only advice is don't buy a bike. Buy a used
small bike and then get what you want after you learn how to ride.

That's one way to do it. Just keep changing the question until you
get the answer you like. Smile

If you are a first time bike buyer I do not advocate dumping that
level of money into a bike to learn on. Get your self a used 500 -
650 metric cruiser for ~ $1500 and then go sign-up for the MSF course.
Ride it for a season to find out if you are going to enjoy this mode
of transportation or hobby depending on your use. Once you have some
miles under your belt you will have developed a riding style. Dump
your learner bike (you'll get what you paid back out of it) and get
the style of bike you need for your usage.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Terry -

I stand by my first reply, try them on for size. However this may be more of
the sort of information you were looking for;

1/4 mile times;
Kawasaki Vulcan 750 - 13.98 sec.
Suzuki Maurauder 800 - 14.38

Yamaha Road Star 1600 - 14.44
Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 - 14.07

You might notice that there is not much difference in those figures. Unless
you invest in a "Power Cruiser" like a Warrior, VTX1800 or a V-Rod you will
get little or no performance advantage from buying a large displacement
cruiser. Very few cruisers can best a 14 sec 1/4 mile.

Also consider an Suzuki Intruder 800 13.71 1/4-mile.
also gets to 84.2mph in 200 yrd top gear acceleration from 50mph test which
puts it amoung the fastest of the cruisers.

This info from the latest edition of motorcycle cruiser

Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)

I'm looking for my forst bike in years and I am down to the following
bikes:

Honda VTX1300C- higher than you want to spend but I hear and see
nothing but good remarks about this bike

Kawasaki ZRX1200 - very powerful motor good handling, good low end
torque close to your price range

Honda 919 (added today after sitting on it) good handling, great motor
and its fuel injected. 2004 model has adjustable forks.

I'm struggling with the decision all the bikes have their strengths
anyway those are my 3.

Do you want a cruiser or what?
2 of the bikes you listed aren't.

here's my suggestions:

Kawasaki Vulcan 800
Dry weight: 516 lbs.
Fuel capacity: 4.0 gal.
Wheelbase: 63.0 in.

Yamaha V Star 1100 Classic

Wheelbase 64.8"
Dry Weight 600 Lbs.

Suziki Marauder 800 (Intruder is too small for you)

Wheel Base: 64.8 in.)
Dry Weight: 456 lbs

Honda Shadow A.C.E. 750 Deluxe

Wheelbase 63.6 inches

Dry Weight 504.9 pounds

Frame wise these are almost as big as the biggest cruisers but weigh
less. they all have enough power to kill yourself and I think they all fall
in your price range. check em out.
