a 1992 Kawasaki Concours. My friend Pete is upgrading to a 2007 Honda
ST1300. The Concours was given to him a few years ago by a friend of
his and now it's mine. I will pay it forward one day myself, and I'll
bet, if I take to the road, it won't be but a few years. Tracy is
ready to go for ride.

No fair!
I was gonna guess Concours, but you said it had a production run of 10
years. Those things have been around since the 80's.
A winter or two ago, I got a knock at my door. Looked out to see a
Concours in the driveway. Turned out they were having a Concours rally
at the state park down the road and had seen my woodpile and wondered
if I'd sell them firewood. I delivered a truckload to their campsite.
It was supposed to be well below freezing that night, so I'm guessing
they used most of it.

Congrats and thanks for the call... it was a much needed break. Three
resources:
http://kzrider.com/component/option,com_frontpage/Itemid,1/
Outstanding mechanical folk there, and I believe your bike and mine have
common DNA.
Z1 Enterprises - Jeff is GREAT people and 100% about customer service.
For what you can't get through Z1, there's Ron Ayers someplace in the f'ing
south, but I'm not as happy with them as I used to be.
Ride safe... make sure you get your arms around the fact that your belief
system about what can happen is infinitely smaller than reality, and it
always will be. Be on the lookout for opportunities to learn things that
contribute to your belief system, large and small. Consciously set aside
time to expand your belief system every single time you discover a new
element from outside your belief system. First rule of self-preservation...
don't listen to anyone that thinks "they're there" when it comes to
self-preservation. Confidence is a contra-indicator of knowledge
completeness.

Certainly a strategy with an upside, but not quite what I was aiming at
that in the remark. Just hoping Mike has a safe transition into the street,
and that he is aggressive in moving to the new way of thinking that will
need to accompany it. The remark was more about being selective about what
you let contribute to your riding belief system. How you conduct yourself
from moment to moment... what strategies and tactics you deploy in your
riding are driven almost completely by things you believe about what the
risks are and how you can most effectively keep your options open and
reduce risk. Lots of things contribute to that belief system. Learning from
personal mistakes and situations, large and small... and having the
discipline to always review any new element that wasn't in the system
before you saw/experienced it. Learning from others too. It was about being
cautious around those potential advisors that think they have a well-formed
belief system that isn't subject to revision.
Haven't started the experiment yet but I suspect it's coming soon. The
current coffee is almost gone. Thanks again:)

Yes, well...I'm not really certain why I flipped that out there. A
split second after I hit the "Post" button I sincerely regretted my
click. I was hoping it would become an unobserved and therefore
unknown phenomenon, much like Schroedinger's cat, wavering between
dead and not dead in its sterile steel box, not really either thing
and therefore a bit unreal, destined to be little more than a bad
dream that brings a wry smile to one's face at odd times, giving one a
chance to look like one knows a bit more than one is letting on when
in fact one knows a bit less...quite a bit less in fact, but then
who's counting after all.

You're right. And those morons DON'T know how to drive, either.
Instead of a swear jar, I have an "Observed Drivers Who Can't Keep
Vehicle in a 12 Foot Wide Lane" jar. Currently have $7,286.57 in it. I
plan to use it to fund and build my own Mega-Tron (tm) anti-moron
ordnance system prototype, mounted and concealed behind the fenders of
my F250 which will reduce all moron drivers observed to a shriveled
and smoking wisp the size of a matchstick. I'm going to go to the free
startup school at Stanford in April and see if Y Combinator is
interested. Heck with the VC's.

If I understand correctly, she may have already started the

As I understand it, she's going to have two pools of "raw material" and
alternate and sometimes mix them. My reaction will be noted daily.
Understand though, if I know too much about the details, I could game the
system, so I'm staying in the dark on this.

Sounds cool. We finally got some nice weather here which got me off my butt
to get the KZP's worked on and all the good mechanics are backed up for a
month. 100% asking for that, but I figured that'd bug me more. Haven't been
on a KZP since I was at the EVOC in Nov so that might be moving in to the
"declining passion" bucket too. Hope not.

Come on Big Guy. I'm commuting on my bike. I wish it had the KZPs
low center of gravity. However, the skills learned in Dublin are
serving me well. The only difference is that I don't push the
envelope. Dumping the rented POS KZP did not bother me. Dumping my
Connie, is not an option.
How about the trials bike?

My passions are seasonal in nature, tied to economic realities, and
flexible in terms of their mutability - at least more like tidal or
wave-set action or something. I can't depend on them to be at peak
operational readiness or in attack-mode at all times. I'm just along
for the ride and sometimes I fall-off. Lately falling-off hurts more
and lasts longer than in the past.
The Cafe del Doge had the nice, rich, penetrating top-notes of a good
Arabia roast with none of the depredations imparted by mingling with a
robusto. As they say, "Not all of the Robusta coffees are repugnant
and above all else, not all of the Arabica coffees are sweet and
aromatic." - But these ones are sweet and aromatic.
