Not really, but I dug out the old XR600 for a quick spin yesterday. It
hadn't run since January, and the POS took 3 kicks to start. I haven't
ridden the KDX "for real" since last June. Pathetic.

I don't ride for real since june too! In august I crashed after 20
minutes I started riding and I am not fully recovered yet! So, we are
in the same boat... Smile

Got the Husaberg out a couple of weeks ago. Hadn't ridden it or
started it since around Thanksgiving. Adjusted the valves for the
first time in years, drained the gas out and put fresh gas in it.
Made a bet with the guy next to me who had spent about 15 minutes
trying to start his almost new '06 CRF250R like it was a two stroke
that I could start mine in one kick.
I won.

Jeebus, talk about high maintenance! You gotta adjust the valves and
put fuel in it for it to start?

My buddy commented on the occasional puff of smoke (oil) from the XR
while we were riding. It's only 19 years old, so I don't understand the
premature wear. I wonder if Honda will cover it under warranty if I
have to do valve seals or rings or something...

Cool.

It was my daughter asking about riding that motivated me. The PW is
buried a bit further in the garage, but I'm thinking it'll come out
this weekend.

Sorry to hear that you're not fully recovered yet. I haven't had any
injuries, I've just been spending time playing with my kids and doing
other junk. I'm feeling the urge to ride though, so the KDX is probably
going to come out some time soon. It's in the way of the PW anyway, so
that's a good excuse to dig it out.

I gather there's not somewhere close (as in no driving) to ride the
trials bike? I've been really thinking about one for a good while now
for backyard entertainment. That old TY250 that I owned briefly was a
lot of fun in the yard... I wish I'd kept it. I like the idea of being
able to ride without a 3 hour drive each way...

I went riding on Sunday for the first time in 3 years. My left arm got
a little sore, but I had a good time. Come to Idaho, I have an XR250
with your name on it.

Actually, no. I just have to push down pretty hard on this hand lever
thingy on the left side.

I'd hope so. I mean, I thought Hondas were supposed to be reliable
and all that. Especially the XRs.

Is this because the motor is worn out and compression is low, or does
Husaberg have a very effective auto decompression mechanism?

No kidding. If it's only going to take 20 years of abuse with little to
no maintenance, it's a wonder they sold any of them.
