Post subject: I banged out the Hurricane!
Archived from groups: tx>motorcycles (more info?)

Hey All,

I hope everyone made good use of the great weather we had. There were
a BUNCH of motorcycles out on Saturday!

I was out riding and had a nice ride. I had the Hurricane all tuned
out and looking nice. I'd scrubbed it down the weekend before and so i
didn't have to spend any wasted time cleaning before riding. I headed
out early in the morning and started looking for good roads. I turned
on the GPS and the PSP and set my sights toward the northeast. I just
rode down a highway until the other looked good and then I switched. I
ended up on Hwy 82 and started riding west, and then it dawned on me
that I could divert and hit the Ida Road. This was the same rode I got
stopped on and the state trooper called me a usenet pussy for going so
slow...and didn't write me a ticket. I was out to prove him wrong! I
headed down Hwy 11 south and caught the Ida Road going toward
Whitewright. Someone must've cleaned the road just before I got there,
because damn if it wasn't pretty and fast curves. I felt like that
bike was on fire. It would sweep from one side to the other with the
most effortless flick from me. I was scraping both toes and I had them
tucked under. I'd see a sign saying 30mph curve and I was taking it
between 80mph and 100mph. This bike is RIGHT now. This is how Honda
should've built this bike.

As I left the Ida road heading home, I got on 78 south and found a
nice straight path to see what this bike would do. I twisted up the
throttle and let it hum up to it's potential. When we hit 135, it
started showing signs of that was it. I wasn't letting it give up that
easy. I've been reading the rags saying this bike was good for 140 and
we were going there. I pulled into the tank and I felt the bike as if
to say "thanks, we'll get there now!". The speed started going up
again and got to 152mph and then "pump, pump....pump, pump". As luck
would have it, we banged the rev limiter and found out this bike's
true top speed. I let off the gas and let the bike down slowly to get
back to a normal speed. After this, I just said "good work day, let's
go home now!".

One of these days, you won't be going home! They'll be picking your body
parts up. Now, I'm not saying this to start a fight, just telling the truth.
If you have family, especially children, you should be more considerate and
not try to get out and kill or mame yourself.

Now, folks like Redshad and Louie could care less if you Brian get hurt,
won't hurt them at all and they'll soon forget you. Just remember your dear
wife and children and how lost they would be without you. Please be careful
Brian. Here in my neck of the woods, there's been 5 guys killed on
motorcycles in the past 2 months. They too didn't think they'd ever go to
the big cycle in the sky but they did. Death doesn't care how old a person
is, how strong or weak, Just act responsible..........hey even if YOU don't
get killed or hurt, YOU might hurt or kill somebody else...have you ever
thought about THAT BRIAN????

Naw, the only real skilled rider is a SMART rider, one who doesn't try to
prove him or herself by acting stupid and breaking the law. You do know that
going as fast as Brian was traveling is breaking the law don't you? I'm
surprised at you Mr. Jay T. I thought you would have had more sense. I am
thinking you are only saying this so you will remain a good guy supposedly
on this here newsgroup? You don't want to "rock the boat" in other words so
these guys will think you're a coward. LOL I suppose you get out and act
stupid too taking chances trying to prove your riding skills or something.
heh heh When you've had a son or daughter get killed in such a accident,
come back and talk some more huh?

The one and only reason I got my sportbikes is just to ride instead of
tearing up a bike trying to ride it. I'm certainly not going to change
my riding just because someone says I could wreck...

That is so like the ride Big Ed and I took Sunday, except for the location.
We were more East Sout East, and Yamaha'n.

I remember seeing a patch one time that said "Bikers aren't afraid of
dying - they're afraid of NOT LIVING".

Rule #1 of riding - Know your limits.

Tell that to their survivors and see if they think it's amusing?

Yesterday I was going down Telge Rd, (this portion is a 4 lane divided 45
mph posted) and saw a woman in a big SUV turn into an entrance to a church
and then back out back straight into the main road and stop, while blocking
both lanes as she attempted to go again. There happened to be a biker in the
main road that she backed into. He had to slam on his brakes fishtail and go
over the divided part into oncoming traffic to miss this barg. If he had of
blinked or looked the wrong way, or made another decision on how to avoid,
he would have been toast on the side of this stupid bitchs car. She did the
move so fast, no one had a chance to anticipate it. Now what does getting
hurt have to do with speed or riding curves?
