Hi
Thinking of perhaps buying a Ducati, went into Zagame in Richmond
Melbourne. Stood around for 15 miinutes while salesmen were chatting
amongs themselves. Nobody showed any interest. Uh? Walked out
OK - Bad day. Telephoned today. They said they are all too busy to talk
to me. They will ring back. 3hrs later nothing. If this is what their
idea of customer service is like before sales, imagine what's it going
to be like after I bought the bike. Forget it.
Defaulted to the Suzuki - Better sales, and customer service

Like you said, his heart wasnt set on a Ducati [or brand x, and perhaps
wanted the Zuki all along?] as he was easily swapped to another brand.
Frankly it still is NOT good enough, i would expect even a drop-kick
customer to be treated with full respect and give fully 100% support
and attention.
Mr.Zagame lives across the road from my aunty in Brighton, good a great
fleet of vehicles and not short of a quid...
Ducati Oz want to have a good hard look at themselves, cannot just
survive HD style selling jackets, caps, wallets and alike........

Funny you should mention those guys, my wife was from Adelaide and we
went to Dr.Desmo [its the one in Blair Athol right? Across the road
they sold fireworks, but thats another story] and the sales guy [looked
more like a Harley boy] was both pleasent and professional.
We only went to visit them because i wanted to see the bike scene in
S/A [which has the best rider roads just minutes from the CBD] and he
knew full well that i was only *looking* but still had a chat about
this and that and even gave me a brochure and sticker..Go figure
Maybe staff have good days and bad days?I dont know
The main thing is treat a customer like you want to be treated, no sale
today can be a sale tommorow or in the future.A bike is a big
investment, its not something somebody is going to buy on the spur of
the moment [Qantas PR guy excl.]
P/S I think they lost the Ducati account anyway, to a stand alone
Ducati dealership in Adelaide?
The best royal treatment i get is at a Lexus dealership.Yeap, u get
treated like a king
[And so u jolly well should, WE are what keeps them in business]

Seeing how, in the middle of worldwide boom in motorcycle sales, Ducati
have managed three straight years of falling sales, the answer is likely
to be "no".

The Ducati dealership here has a similarly bad rep. No ppl skills.
A friend told me about his mate who wanted to buy a Ducati. He went to Gecko
with money in his pocket, determined to buy a particular type of Ducati
(don't ask me, I wouldn't know....) and asked the guy if he could take it
for a test ride. The guy said no. It wasn't the megabucks, one-of -a-kind
model in the showroom, by the way.
He said "But I'm keen to buy a such-and-such - but not going to buy anything
I haven't test-ridden first though."
And the Gecko guy said "tell you what, why don't you go and test-ride one in
Sydney, then come back here and we can talk."
So he went to Sydney. Test rode the bike he wanted to ride. Guess who he
bought his bike from? A sales career just isn't for some people, is it?
Somewhere there's a village missing its idiot....
