XR100 headlight

Hey,

I have an '83 XR100 that some of you may remember has given me
headaches like crazy. To avoid these headaches I've been toying with
the idea of buying a late-80's XL250 to devote my attention to, but
recent cash flow problems have made that an impossibility.

I phoned the DMV today to find out about maybe legalizing the XR to get
around town on, and lo and behold all I legally need is a headlight and
a taillight! So, I'm wondering if anyone has any good, cheap
suggestions for putting a headlight on this little bike. I could
probably find a junked XL100 from around the same era - is it possible
to take the headlight/taillight off an XL to put onto an XR without a
new stator and other work? Will the parts even fit?

The law says I don't need blinkers if they weren't original on the
bike, so I'm going to avoid those just to keep maintenance down to a
minimum.

My girlfriend's brother has an 83 Kawi Ninja 600R half in parts sitting
in his garage which he wants no longer. Would it be possible to take
the headlight off that and rig it up on the XR? Would a big bright
flashlight taped/mounted on the handlebars pass the safety inspection
in Nova Scotia?

If you can't tell I'm pretty confused and I don't really know what to
do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
