Had a great ride today. Weather was perfect. Trails were in great
shape. Lots of water puddles here and there, just enough to make
things interesting. Jim got to the motel about 5am and we woke him up
by 7:30. That was a sight. He led 2 loops today. 40 miles all
together, doesn't sound like much but considering these tight woods
here, it feels more like we did 80. And this was the slow group. We
averaged 10 riders each loop.

Jim wanted it posted that whoever sent the care package with the plaid
flannel riding pants and funny looking jersey, it was well recieved. I
think Deb got a picture.

No injuries to report. Had a few mechanical breakdowns early in the
day. One guys rear brake master cylinder went on the fritz and Jim had
Deb pull one from the shop and bring it with her. A KTM rider lost
clutch actuation early in the first loop and he was pulled back to
camp. Got it figured out and he rode the rest of the day with no
problems.

Looking forward to Saturdays ride. Til then, wish you all were here.
Later,

Derek

Derek,

Thanks for the note about the itchy scratchy plaid pants and loud shirt for
Arnett. I saw where they had 18" of snow between him and WUDI, so he might
be late.

Joe

Great report, Derek! Keep 'em coming! (When you're not riding or
BSing, that is). I really wish I could have made it but it just wasn't
in the cards this year. Hopefully I'll be better prepared next year!
Say hi to Jim, Craig, Dave and all the other spodes who are there or
who show up Saturday! Ya'll be safe and take lots of photos!

Wow, what a great day of riding today(Saturday). Rode the 1st and 2nd
loops Jim had flagged, yesterday. Today we rode the 3rd loop. Tight
single track with lots of side hill off camber stuff. The forest floor
covered with leaves makes it hard to tell where the trail goes
sometimes if you lose sight the rider in front of you. Whoever laid
out these trails does not like "any" straight lines. After the 3rd
loop, we rode the 1st again with what seemed to be a little different
section thrown in. It was about 17 miles. Really cool, so cool that
when we got back to camp, we decided to do it again. Still heard of no
major injuries all day. Especially given the number of riders we had.
We easily had twice the people show up for Saturday.

Thanks to Deb for making 3 gallons of gumbo for supper. She thought
that would be plenty but there were several that missed out. It was
excellent.

Got a few more pictures today. When I get home I'll get them on my
website and post a link here to them.

Saw lots of familiar faces, Jim, OP, Keith, Everett, Mx Phlipper and
others. Met lots of others for the first time. Hope I can remember
their names the next time I see them.

I'm headed up to Chadwick in the morning instead of riding here
Sunday. Doesn't sound like there's gonna be much of a turnout for that
part of the ride.

Later,
Derek

No Dean sightings at the train robbers area... I didn't do the Chadwick
portion of the ride though.

Report(s) to follow soon...
