Why can't the Dems. run someone who would have an EASY chance to win this
year?

Could they run a white man from the South?
No.....they have to run a woman or a black man named Obama.

Sigh.

They only way Obama would have a harder time would be if his middle
name was Hussein.

Well, let's face it - the race at this point is probably down
to only four players, since I don't see any way in hell the
Republicans would ever seriously consider letting Huckabee
have a shot at it. So it will be either McCain or Romney
for the GOP, and Clinton or Obama for the Democrats.

Romney appears to be faltering, and has the burden of
having to explain what many consider to be a "weird"
religion. And he seems to have little chance of getting
enough support from moderates and independents to
win the election.

McCain doesn't suffer from either problem, and is
probably the most electable of the GOP hopefuls at
this point. His age would definitely be a factor.

Clinton seems to have broad appeal, but would definitely
polarize the GOP core and right-wing against her. They
wouldn't run the risk of making her gender an issue (and so
appear to be a party of bigots), but she's definitely vulnerable
via association with her husband's administration.

Obama also sees broad appeal, and has more of an image
of "change" than any other candidate (the rest will all, to some
degree, be seen as "insiders" and "business as usual"). His
race also can't directly be made an issue by the GOP, for the
same reasons as for Clinton, above.

So, I'm going out on a limb a little bit, and predicting an
Obama-McCain race, with Obama being the ultimate
winner.

My black co-workers and riding friends all unanimously insist that
Obama can't win BECAUSE he is black.

But if that's true, then how do we explain Obama's
primary victory in Iowa? That's not a state where
you see a very high percentage of black faces...

Your pessimism might have grounds, Thumper. A McCain / Lieberman
ticket could end up hard to beat.

You speak of the next president. Mark my words. I won't vote for him, but
most will.

He'll win the popular vote as well as the Electoral College vote.

Considering who the Dem's ran in the last two elections, I would say this
was a step up. With everything that has happened in the lst 8 years, you
would think that Dem's had a lock on the White House this time.

Obama HUSSEIN. Named for his Muslim upbringing, member of a
black-power 'church'.

vs not just 'a woman', but 'a power-crazed deceitful-
bitch-from-hell-who-will-do-ANYTHING-to-advance-herself-and-Socialism-in-this-country'
and The Left knows it So does the rest of America..

The one who said last week that she wants to garnish the wages
and paychecks of anyone who doesn't buy enough health insurance to
suit her dream.

The one who famously said "I have LOTS of ideas about what I
want to do - America can't afford them all".
