Power Commander installed. It smoothed out the poppig and sputtering
on deceleration and smoothed out the growl somewhat on acceleration.
Made the sound smoother, yet it gets up and goes. I'm finding I have
to keep it one gear higher so I don't take off quite as fast when
applying throttle. Of course, this readjustment of my riding habits
has alot to do with having ridden a KZ440 for the last week, whihc I
found really liek to be rev'ved high, switching gears past 5K. Even
then, it's no match for that pull I get the VTX.

Yeah, on the tach. The KZ440 likes to be kept over 5K as you
accelerate. It redlines at 9K, but by 7500-8000 is screaming (as in
the engine is asking for relief), so I never pushed it to 9. It hauls
(for a 440). THe vTX, OTOH, has its rev limiter kick in at something
like 5600RPM, so it's not about being but so high.

I test sat a couple of Buells at my local Harley dealer Friday. They
felt good on the floor and it was kinda cool to see a fleet of
sportsbikes with V-twin engines.

Took her out for a spin tonight - interstate and higher speed
backroads. Gawd, that thing is fast... 3rd gear 60mph or 4th grear 70
and it still wants to pull in that gear. I was leaving cars behind
like they were planted in the earth. I was keeping my speed down, but
getting from 5 to 60 or 70 was thrilling and the bike wanted to keep
accelerating.
For safety's sake, shoulda picked up a VTX1300, but for fun's sake,
this 1800 kicks axx!

I know perZackly how you feel! Riding around on the Monster with the
new Termignoni exhaust and new engine ECU is a startling improvement.
The only bad thing about it is I'm going to be arrested and thrown in
jail, and it'll happen without me ever getting out of second gear!
You be careful now, hear? >> Stay informed about: Got my VTX1800 back w/PC |
