| I hadn't realise that the S2R had a single front brake. Is that what you
| said?

| I only ever had chance to ride a 916, and then not far enough to get used
to
| it. I felt too much like I was perched up on it, but then the owner was
| short and had fitted bar risers so he could reach them. It felt like an R6

a

Hi Henry,
Sorry it's a while ago now since my post and you are quite right in that the
S2R has dual brakes.
At the time of the original post I was sure that I had read of a single set
up on the Dark at least, but now the bike is here in the flesh in my local
dealership, (all but the Dark), they are fitted with dual front brakes & 2
pot brake callipers, rather than the four potters the 2004 M800 Monster
had.
Hence the lower braking performance reference.

The comment about the cold weather was referenced to "Blizzard", the poster
at the time as that's a real cold wind, and the opposite extreme as I was
experiencing.
Right now at 9 PM it's quite cool at 30 Deg.C. here in sunny Brisbane.

The '05 999 and 749 are now here, and I like the cleaner look around the
headlamp now that the slots are gone. Pity the silly looking diamond parking
light is still there in the windscreen though.
I suppose the look grows on one's self, as an immaculate 748 was parked next
to the 749 on the showroom floor and the old 748 now looks somehow "old",
rather than "wow".
I thought I would never say that.
Actually with the cheque from the sale of the Blackbird in my pocket, I was
thinking of a deposit on this base model Red 749, as I found with the M620
the Duck's hold their resale very well indeed.
At the time I rode the 748 I had a Honda 2000 Fireblade and I thought they
were similar to ride at the time on a group (15 bikes) together test ride on
the Ducati street test ride day.
And it's still on my wish list for Santa to bring.

Rob.

Hi Rob,

I guess you know that on the '05 model the fairing is also wider either side
of the screen, like the GP bike. Just though I'd have the last word! Wink

Cheers
