Nice new shiny bike doesn't stay that way very long. Less than a dozen
rides on the thing and the brush has already scraped the plastic up pretty
good. Starting to see some scratches on the nice black fork tubes too.
Worst of all is the two 8" long, 1/32 " deep dings on the swing arm. Got
these after Everett made me ride most of the Last Man Standing stuff last
weekend Guess I can consider it broke in now, so, nothing left to do
but go racing!

Bling ain't the thing if you ain't got cha-ching, do-wop d-wop, do-wop
dwop, do woooooop.
Well, it sounds much better with the electric guitar, trust me!
I wonder how long my new bike will stay looking somewhat new? It's
got 3 rides on it, but the one last sunday in the mud and trees has
already taken it's toll.

Being a succesful woods rider/racer means riding through
woods like being a ball in a pinball machine, the trees and
rocks are the bumpers. Unfortunately the bike does take more
of a beating being bounced off of the bumpers, however it's
what some of us love and we don't mind buyin some new parts
now and then or workin on our bikes. I'm really lookin
foward to the day when I can go out and bounce off the trees
again!!! >> Stay informed about: Trouble with being a woods rider/racer |

I know I'm looking forward to that particular ride report myself.

Duct tape. Maybe some ice cream sticks for reinforcement. Free.

See above.

If it's still functional, leave it alone. You'll just break the new one.

No solution. With the money you saved above, buy an older bike without a
radiator.

Exactly! No way to improve on that unless it's two days.

I don't know, the a capella text-only version was OK.

Best thing to do with a new bike/car is put a big scratch on it before it even
leaves the lot. It'll happen sooner or later, might as well get it over with
and avoid all the worry.
Friend bought his ex-wife's car. She kept it immaculate. The first month he
washed it twice a week. The next month once a week. Now, six months later,
the back seat is filled with stuff and there's a big birdshit splotch on the
trunk.
OTOH, he has a girlfriend now. Karma.

Won't be long now! In the end it don't matter for there is nothing like
woods riding!

He was using the bike as protective gear. He's fine. Mostly.

I know. That's why I'm up after 1 am fixing the stuff so that we can
go riding tomorrow.
Just pointing out, yet again, that this is no cheap hobby.
I have a spare front fender. I'm getting creative with the rear
fender. I think I spent a little more than that on the brake lever.
The rad. guard better freaking bend back! I will not put the plastic
louvers back on there the way this thing seems to hit the ground. The
guard did what it was supposed to do. >> Stay informed about: Trouble with being a woods rider/racer |

The woods today, like Spodely's unwritten ride report, were a mixture
of dry dirt, deep mud, iced over mud holes, etc. Except no snow. >> Stay informed about: Trouble with being a woods rider/racer |
