Post subject: Tracking Jerry
Archived from groups: tx>motorcycles (more info?)

Our Houston friend called me a few minutes ago.. He's somewhere
near Bakersfield, Ca. Finally found himself a shade tree to get under.
Jerry is riding his latest purchase of a trike.. This thing has got a Volks-
wagon engine and drive train.. Whew, that's quite a leap from a Valkyrie
to a trike, but he swears and bedamned that he won't convert his Valk
to a three wheeler, in spite of the bride's encouragement.. I gotta say
that I am proud of him for that..

The plan is for him to cross the state line at Barstow and try to ride into
Ash Fork, Az or Flagstaff by early evening.. Rest for the night at one of
the two places and then continue on down to Phoenix and Tucson tom-
orrow.. At least he is in range of help, in the form of my old friend in
Casa Grande, should he need it..

Jerry is only biting off a little bit at a time, on this trip.. He's not
familiar
with the rig he's riding and doesn't want to push it too hard.. Which
IMHO is a smart move, on his part..

I've wished him only the best, since he started this trike business..
You can rest assured that when he gets that thing to Houston, he'll
be taking dead aim to make it one of a kind.. That dude can sure
detail a motorcycle and there is no doubt in my mind that he'll do the
same with this damned trike.. <mumble.. mumble>

Anyway.. Bjay can stop worrying about Jerry, now.. That should put
everyone on this newsgroup at ease..

Has Jerry checked in with anyone. I called his cell about 745a, got phone
mail, and left a message, but no call back.
I don't see how he is going to be able to make it.

I ain't no more than posted this and O' Jerry rang me up. He sez it is hot.
He has made it to Kingman, Arizona. He is lacking about 1500 miles being
home. He has to stop often account the heat, plus he is driving slow account
not knowing the machine he is riding too well.
Kicking he is, though.
He sez thanks to those thinking of him.
He still insisted he is a dumbass, and I just play along with him, you know,
kinda agreeing.

Jerry left Kingman, Az. this morning about seven AM, his time there..
He is trying to get high mileage during the morning, while it is bearably
cool.. The plan, as I understand it.. is to make it through Albuqurque
today, mabybe a little more.. That means he'll not be in Houston until
Sunday or Monday, depending on that blistering heat that he's contending
with..

The newly purchased trike is performing alright, even though he's keep-
ing his fingers crossed..

Thanks to everyone who is thinking of him on this solo ride..
