I am tired of scratched face shields. How many of you are using tear
offs? Are they as clear as your face shield? They are making them now
that just stick to your face sheild. No need to pull off your face
sheild to install them.

Hmm. How much grip do tear-offs have? Obviously most bikers will
pocket the old ones, but there's bound to be an inconsiderate minority
that just drops them on the road, and it's only a matter of time before
the elements move damp tear-offs onto the critical part of a bend just
as a biker is approaching.

Dave.

Big whoop. Ever watch motorcycle racing? Ever notice their tearoffs?
You think Rossi is pocketing his tear offs in the heat of battle?

If racers can run over a tear off fully leaned over what makes you
think it'll be a problem on the street? It'd be just like running over
a wet leaf, maybe you feel a little slide but ultimately not enough to
make any difference.

As for using them on the street...

The shield you use with them is perfectly flat and has posts. Both
these aspects conspire to make the assembly much noisier than a curved
shield on the road.

If it rains you'll get them wet and visibility suffers. Then the whole
stack is garbage.

The little grip strips flap annoyingly in the wind unless you tape
them down. Then you look like a dork with tape on your helmet.

They're a lot more expensive in the long haul than just buying a new
shield every so often.

So, forget the tear offs and just wipe your shield down. Replace it
every year or less and call it a day.

WTF are you doing to your shields? I have several helmets of varying ages,
2 years old minimum, that have no significant blemishes, and I'm one of
those miserable bastards that uses Windex to clean his shields.

Rumor is that it dulls the clarity of the shield.

She's great... coming up on seven weeks now. Starting to be more than just
a cute little "lump". She's pushing 9 pounds now and is predisposed to
smiles when adults make asses of themselves for her. She actually sleeps
pretty well at night. She'll go for about 4 hours and then want a snack...
then right back to sleep for another 3-4 hours.

Bob's been pretty quiet here locally, and we've been a little out of the
local group loop. I know he's back to driving on his own, and the last
time I saw him was shortly after Katie was born. He was walking on his own
with a cane. Slow-going, but going none the less. I expect that he's
becoming much more proficient with his prosthetic, and he'll be back on two
wheels by Feb-Mar if not sooner... he's a hell of a fighter.

Take care,

Steve

A few more pounds and inches and you can sign her up for a track day.

Understandable.

Unbelievable.

If he has sworn us off OK, but I want pictures of his triumphant return to
biking. I'm counting on you.
