Hi all,
I recently bought a used 2000 TW and absolutely love the bike.It had 560
miles on the odometer when I bought it and ordered the shop manual from
the same dealer I bought the bike from.
I've done some things to get it back to it's original condition (or
better), like replacing torn decals, o-ring chain, 45-tooth rear
sprocket (stock is 50) and had the skidplate, footpegs/mounts &
kick-starter powder-coated. I also plan to have the exhaust coated with
a high-temp ceramic or similar that won't burn off. Trouble is, they
(outfit in Seattle area) have a week lead-time to do the exhaust and I
don't want to be without the bike for that long!
The one problem I'm experiencing is rough throttle response, mainly on
the low end of the throttle at sustained speed.
It feels like it's cutting out.
I'm not a carb expert but have done some re-jetting on my Polaris quad,
which is an easy task. I asked the dealer if a rebuild kit was available
for the 28mm Mikuni and the counter guy told me there wasn't.
I need to fix this. If it's a matter of buying a new replacement carb,
that's what I'll do.
I would however like to know that I'm not just wasting the almost $250
to get it right and I've heard there are some tricks or mods that can be
done to correct this issue, which also serves to eliminate the excessive
warm-up time.
Any other TW fans in this newsgroup?
Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks!
